What we use

We store the home and work places you choose (including coordinates and labels), your commute schedule, time zone, notification preferences, a random installation identifier, and an Apple push notification token. These are used only to estimate commutes and deliver requested alerts. No account, advertising, cross-app tracking, background GPS, or trip recording is used.

How it is handled

Traffic requests share your selected origin, destination, and departure time with Apple Maps. Apple also processes notification delivery. Our service runs on Railway. Route settings and push tokens are encrypted in our database; access uses a device-specific secret stored in iOS Keychain. Data is sent over HTTPS. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Optional automatic direction

With your permission, Lanelark checks your current location while open to recognize when you are near your saved home or work and select the appropriate commute view. This current location is evaluated in memory on your iPhone, is not recorded, and is not sent to our service. Switch this off in Lanelark Settings or revoke location permission in iPhone Settings. The app does not track location in the background.

Optional system alarms

On iOS 26 or newer, you can allow Lanelark to schedule one-time alarms. Alarm identifiers, direction, selected departure, advance notice, and time zone are stored locally on your iPhone and used by Apple’s system alarm service. We do not upload alarm permissions, alarm identifiers, or alarm-specific settings to our service. Your selected departure time is saved by our service to show your chosen commute and, if enabled, send its notification.

Retention and deletion

Your saved commute stays while you use the app. Inactive installations are removed after 90 days without opening or updating the app. Alert deduplication records expire after 14 days. Use Settings → Delete my data to remove the installation, saved places, plans, and push token from our active service. Local settings are also cleared, and Lanelark alarms on this iPhone are canceled. Infrastructure recovery copies, if any, may persist until their normal rotation. Uninstalling alone does not immediately delete server data.

Your choices

Turn alerts off, edit your places, skip a commute, or delete your data inside the app. Location access for automatic direction is optional and works only while the app is open. You can contact support@edgecase.works about privacy or data requests. Never send your home address or device secret by email.

Children and changes

Lanelark is a driving commute utility and is not directed to children under 13. Material policy changes will be reflected here and, when appropriate, in the app.
